- Royal Decision — His Royal Highness makes the final decision on all honours. Successful nominees are notified confidentially.
Tips for a Strong Nomination

- Explain how you know the nominee and the context of your relationship
- Describe why their contributions are exceptional or significant
- Include facts, dates, and measurable impact where possible
- Supporting documents from others can strengthen the nomination
Accepting or Declining an Honour
If you have been selected for a Kaharagian honour, you will receive a confidential notification through ePortal inviting you to accept or decline the award.
Responding to an Honour Offer
When you receive an honour notification, you will see:
- The specific honour being offered and your proposed rank
- A citation explaining why you have been nominated
- The insignia associated with the honour
You must respond through the ePortal by either accepting or respectfully declining. The response process has three steps:
Decision
Choose whether to accept this honour or respectfully decline.
Review Details
If accepting, review and confirm your name (as it will appear on the brevet), email address, and postal address for insignia delivery. You may request changes if needed.
Confirmation
Confirm your final decision. Once submitted, your response cannot be changed.
Accepting an Honour
When you accept:
- Your name will be recorded exactly as shown for the brevet (official certificate). Review this carefully and request any corrections.
- Your postal address is required for delivery of your insignia.
- Any changes to your personal details will be submitted for administrator review before being applied.
- Your brevet and insignia will be prepared and dispatched following the Foundation Day Honours List publication on 16 July.
Declining an Honour
You are under no obligation to accept any honour offered to you. If you wish to decline:
- You may provide a reason (optional) — this is kept in internal records only and is not required.
- Declining is final and cannot be reversed.
- You remain eligible for future nominations — declining one honour does not preclude you from being nominated again.
- Your decision is confidential and will not be made public.
All correspondence regarding honours is strictly confidential. The offer of an honour should not be disclosed publicly until it has been officially announced.
After Accepting
Once you have accepted an honour, you may:
- Use the appropriate post-nominal letters (e.g., KCK, OCK, MBK)
- Wear the insignia on appropriate occasions
- Be listed in the Register of Honours
The Honours Chancellery will provide guidance on the correct use and wearing of your honour.
Types of Honours
The Principality of Kaharagia bestows several categories of honours:
Orders of Chivalry
Orders of chivalry are the highest honours of the Principality, recognising exceptional and distinguished service.
Royal Decorations
Royal decorations recognise specific achievements, meritorious service, or acts of bravery.
Common Questions
Can I nominate myself?
Self-nominations are not accepted. Honours are intended to recognise those nominated by others who can attest to their merit and achievements.
Is there a fee for honours?
There is no fee to be nominated for or to receive a Kaharagian honour. Honours are bestowed purely on merit.
Can non-Kaharagians receive honours?
Yes, foreign nationals may be admitted to certain orders and may receive decorations in recognition of their service to or friendship with the Principality.
How will I be notified if nominated?
If your nomination is successful, you will be contacted confidentially by the Honours Chancellery before any public announcement. You will have the opportunity to accept or decline.
Can an honour be revoked?
In exceptional circumstances, honours may be revoked by His Royal Highness if the recipient's conduct brings the honour into disrepute.
